Litigation Paralegal

February 6, 2025

The Litigation Paralegal performs legal support functions as outlined below and will assist our attorneys in managing civil cases from inception through trial. A successful candidate would already have experience working in a fast-paced environment focused on civil litigation matters and would be ready to hit the ground running. A hybrid schedule is available. This position will report out of the Philadelphia office.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise approved, 30-minute lunch
Location: Philadelphia, PA


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

  • Assist with court filings in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York state and federal courts
  • Conduct legal research
  • Update and maintain internal databases
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
  • Draft, format, and file legal documents, including: Complaints, Demands, Motions, Discovery requests and responses (Interrogatories and Requests for Production), Deficiency letters
  • Work closely with clients and other sources to gather necessary documents and information for case preparation
  • Manage court calendars and deadlines
  • Liaise between trial team and internal/external third parties
  • Communicating with retained experts and preparing relevant materials for expert review
  • Summarize written discovery and document productions
  • Conduct background checks, social media investigations, litigation history


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience filing in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York state and federal courts
  • Experience drafting, formatting, and filing legal documents, including: Complaints, Demands, Motions, Discovery requests and responses (Interrogatories and Requests for Production), Deficiency letters
  • Experience using Word, Adobe, and E-Discovery platforms
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Familiarity with legal research tools
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to attorneys, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to handle working with several different databases of information and
    comfortable organizing data
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to support multiple attorneys
  • Trial preparation and trial support experience is required
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documents, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
  • ABA approved paralegal certificate or other relevant certification
  • 3+ years’ recent experience in civil litigation required
  • Ability to work overtime as required (possibly evenings, weekends and holidays)
