Biography
Joshua Upin focuses his practice on advising clients on a wide variety of matters including commercial litigation and business law, corporate governance, business and commercial transactions, real estate finance, real estate disputes, and zoning and land use. He counsels clients in the entertainment, insurance, real estate, medical equipment, healthcare and life sciences, and commercial and residential real estate development industries, among others. Joshua is also the firm's lead e-discovery counsel for complex litigation matters.

Obtained a declaratory judgment against a homeowners’ association after a two-day bench trial for the luxury condo owner.

Secured a $1 nominal verdict in a federal jury trial for a Kansas-based debt collection agency sued under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Succeeded in convincing the court to slash plaintiff’s counsel’s fee award by 75%.

Managed the electronic discovery and document review of over 5 million electronic records on behalf of 168 affiliated client entities situated across more than 30 countries responding to a subpoena issued incident to the Purdue Pharmaceuticals Bankruptcy.
REAL ESTATE

Represented a private real estate lender in closing a $25 million revolving credit facility from a regional bank.

Represented a real estate developer in structuring and financing a $5.1 million project for the construction of a 27 unit apartment building complex.

Represented a buyer in a $13 million leveraged acquisition of two multi-unit apartment buildings in University City with over 100 units.
